My Story
On April 27th 2025, I will be attempting my second marathon in support of Arthur Rank Hospice.
I feel honoured to have been given one of their few TCS London Marathon charity spaces, and would like nothing more than to top last years fundraising total of £2300.
I was overwhelemed by everyones support and genoristy last year, it honestly meant alot. Any donation of any size is massively appreciated!
I will of course be running in honour of my mum, Maryann Thwaites, who many will know was sadly diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and passed away on April 2nd, 2016. During this time the team at Arthur Rank were able to support her when she needed it most. Fortunately she was able to be at home surrounded by her loved ones, and received wonderful care from the community nursing team and those at Arthur Rank.
The support, guidance and care that is provided by Arthur Rank Hospice is so important for so many individuals and their families who may be going through some extremely difficult times. Seeing all the wonderful support and care my mum received during this time is what encouraged me to retrain and become the nurse I am now.
Hospice care and End of Life care is so important in order to empower patients and their caregivers by giving them control and support in the late stages of their lives. Arthur Rank aim to 'support good life and good death' with a number of different services, including; a community team, inpatient unit, palliative care hub, patient and family support, and many others.
Thank you again for your time and support.
Much love from a very average runner.
